The staff at the Downes Medivet Leigh-on-Sea surgery, are a friendly team of qualified veterinary surgeons, nurses, and receptionists.

The Leigh-on-Sea surgery has three consulting rooms, kennels, with a separate cat ward and an isolate area, preparation room with dental, x-ray, laboratory and ultrasound facilities and an operating theatre (where minor and major surgery is carried out).

When you make your appointment please ask if you prefer to see a particular veterinary surgeon.

During your Visit

On arrival you will be greeted by our friendly experienced reception staff who will register your details on our computer system (if we don’t know you already). This information will then be available at all of our surgeries.

Facilities

After a consultation in one of our three consulting rooms, our veterinary surgeons may recommend investigations using our our up to date diagnostic equipment including X-ray, and Laboratory testing (in house and using a high quality external laboratory).

Surgery

If needed we offer major and minor surgery including dentistry soft tissue surgery and orthopaedics. If your pet needs to stay in for treatment we have separate cat ward and isolate ward.

Nuno Guedes

Lead Veterinary Surgeon

Nuno Guedes MRCVS, Qualified from the University of Coimbra, in 2008.

Nuno studied Cardiopneumology at the University of Coimbra, Portugal, and Veterinary Medicine at the University of Porto, Portugal. Nuno has special interests in soft tissue surgery, as well as cardiology, abdominal ultrasound and echocardiology.  After qualifying, Nuno gained experience at various practices in Portugal before moving to the UK in March 2017, when we welcomed Nuno to Downes Medivet Leigh as our Lead Veterinary Surgeon. In his spare time Nuno enjoys travelling, playing golf and keeping fit.

Charlotte Biddle

Veterinary Surgeon

Charlotte Biddle BVSc MRCVS, Qualified from the University of Bristol, in 2014.

Charlotte studied at the University of Bristol and since graduating in 2014 has worked in a mixed animal practice in Kent, looking after farm animals as well as dogs, cats and rabbits, before moving to Essex and joining the team at Medivet South Woodham Ferrers. In September 2016, Charlotte joined our team at Medivet Downes Leigh. As well as caring for dogs, cats and rabbits, Charlotte has a special interest in treating birds. In her spare time, Charlotte enjoys training her 10 month old Husky (pictured above) and long walks.

Wiktoria Stodulska

Veterinary Surgeon

Wiktoria Stodulska  MRCVS, Qualified in 2008.

Wiktoria qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon in 2008 and worked at various small animal practices before joining Medivet in 2014.  After working at our Southend 24 hour hospital for a year, Wiktoria joined the team at Downes Medivet Leigh in January 2017. Wiktoria is currently studying towards a certificate in small animal medicine and has a special interest in dermatology and internal medicine.

Wiktoria has a pet cat called Piglet, and in her spare time enjoys wakeboarding, sailing, windsurfing, skiing, snowboarding and skating.

Nicki Quick, RVN

Head Veterinary Nurse

Nicki has been at Downes for more than 15 years. Nicki joined us as a trainee and qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2003. In 2008 Nicki became the Head Nurse at our Leigh Surgery. As well as general nursing, Nicki helps to complete insurance forms for clients, and enjoys mentoring other nurses and assisting veterinary surgeons.  Nicki enjoys the variety and day to day challenges of her job.

 

Helen Miller, RVN

Senior Veterinary Nurse, Deputy Head Nurse

Helen has been nursing for more than 20 years and qualified as a veterinary nurse over 12 years ago. Helen has previously worked at small animal practices near Basildon and Benfleet, and joined the team at Downes in May 2011. In October 2016 Helen became the Deputy Head Nurse at our Leigh Surgery.  Helen enjoys assisting our veterinary surgeons during surgery and advising clients during puppy and weight management clinics. Helen has three Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, and three cats.

Lesley Dupuy

Head Receptionist

Lesley has been at Downes for more than 11 years, and became Head Receptionist at the Leigh surgery in January 2014. Lesley has a pet dog called Tilly who regularly joins Lesley on walking holidays in Devon and visiting family in Lincoln.
