 We would like to warmly welcome you as a client to Downes Veterinary Surgeons.

We are an independant companion animal clinic with surgeries in Leigh-on-Sea, Rayleigh and Thorpe Bay.

Our vets routinely treat dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, chinchillas, ferrets and tortoises, plus occasional birds (both domestic and wild).

The majority of our work is first opinion but we are not only the equivalent of your pet’s GP, we are also their A&E, X-ray and ultrasound department, routine surgeon, orthopaedic surgeon, dentist and physician (managing ongoing conditions such as diabetes),

In order to fulfil all these roles, and continue to improve the service that we offer to our clients, we regularly invest in new equipment, keep abreast of medical advances and new drugs, and encourage our staff by funding their continuing training and development.

The Practice has an excellent range of diagnostic equipment including digital radiography, ultrasound (including a colour doppler machine).

In addition, several of our vets have developed their own special areas of interest.

We are very keen to promote, and provide advice on, routine preventative treatments such as vaccination, neutering, weight management, dental care, parasite control and much more. Our Thorpe Bay Surgery also provides a Pet Passport Service for clients who wish to travel abroad with their pets.
